Most roofing contractors use felt paper underlayment because it's cheap and fast. Rescue Roofer doesn't. We use synthetic underlayment exclusively — a significantly higher standard that provides better moisture resistance, tear resistance, and longevity.
Felt paper can absorb moisture, wrinkle, and deteriorate over time. Synthetic underlayment maintains its integrity for the life of the roof. The difference in material cost is minimal; the difference in performance is substantial.
